That is the dire peril in the present trend toward statism. If freedom is not found accompanied by a willingness to resist, and to reject favors, rather than to give up what is intangible but precarious, it will not long be found at all.”

- Richard Weaver, 1962

Japanese Hornets (via hootenanny03)

Maybe the reason why Nick and so many other literati are losing their patience with long form information is that it is so fundamentally inefficient and inferior to connected bits of information.”

Really, really interesting insight…and something that has been bouncing around in my mind ever since I read it right before falling asleep last night.

It’s hard to convey how awesome this game was when you...

It’s hard to convey how awesome this game was when you were a 10-year old boy circa 1990 and you had access to a Tandy 1000 TX. I think it still plays well to this day. I was super pumped to find a DOS emulator that worked for it so I could bring this puppy back to life a few weeks ago. As of this date I’ve sunk many Russian aircraft carriers and Victor class missile submarines in the frigid waters of the North Atlantic. I hope to continue my reign of undersea terror, striking fear into the hearts of the godless communists.

Big Ideas (don’t get any) (via Vimeo)

Really cool. The colors and shot composition is great. The interpretation of the song, filled with the singing beeps and painful groans of old electronics, is strangely beautiful.

Dodge Sprinter - Better than the Ford Econoline you rode in to...

Dodge Sprinter - Better than the Ford Econoline you rode in to church camp

This is super nerdy, but I have a mild Sprinter obsession. Perhaps it’s the European/Mercedes heritage (they’re actually built in Germany by Daimler, broken down, and reassembled in South Carolina) but I think these are the coolest people movers out there right now. Great little diesel engines, great ride, giant windows, and the side profile of a giant Dustbuster. What’s not to love, especially compared to those venerable Econolines? When it comes down to it the Sprinter is space age youth group transportation.

4-Door Honda Civic - I am a fan

I really think Honda did a fantastic job with the design of the civic 4-door. I think the 2-door looks stumpy and weird, but the 4-door has a really beautiful line to it. Hands down my favorite economy sedan around. For the life of me I don’t understand why Detroit can’t design and build cars like this.

Marrakech Man (via flyover)
